A Fairytale Castle
Located in the village of Schwangau, enter the wonderful Neuschwanstein Castle. Opened to the public in 1886, the Romanesque Revival-style structure is surrounded by a magical and fascinating ambiance with views of the lake, waterfall gorge, and the 19th-century Hohenschwangau Castle. You'll actually feel like you're walking inside a fairy tale dream! An audio guide available in 19 languages gives you a deeper insight into the castle and its history.
Built by Bavarian ruler, King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein Castle has a magnificent limestone facade and its interior is as beautiful as its outside with 14 rooms. The rooms were majestically decorated at Ludwig II’s sudden death in 1886. Make sure to visit the 2-story throne room which has a Byzantine-style design with wall paintings depicting angels.
