How to Design a Gift Tag Using Shutterstock Editor
Before diving right in, go to Shutterstock Editor with your desktop browser.
Step 1: Choose Your Tag Size
Step 2: Set Clear Area
The top of the tag usually has a hole and a cut corner, so it’s best to avoid that area for any essential elements, such as text.
To mark the clear area, create a rectangle shape with a height of about 1 inch on the top part of the canvas. From here on, don’t put any important elements in that area.
Step 3: Create Text
To add the text, select the Text Tool (A) and use Add headline for the main text. Then, use Add body text to add the supporting text with a smaller size.
Headlines will automatically have a large font size, while subheadlines and body text have a smaller default size.
Step 4: Customize Font and Layout
Now, it’s time to get creative and choose the font you’d like for the Main Text and Body Text.
Try out the fonts and combine them with other fonts until you find the perfect combination. Adjust the layout of your text and make sure it’s not in the clear area. Leave enough blank space for the clip arts to decorate your tag.
Step 5: Upload the Winter Clip Arts
Upload the clip arts by clicking on My Files -> Uploads -> Upload Image. Set the size and adjust the composition with the text. Because we’re using the clip arts as decoration, it’s okay to put them in the clear area.
Step 6: Change the Color
If you feel like the clip art color doesn’t match your design, you can change it using the Effects feature. Adjust the Colorify, Hue Rotation, and Brightness toggle to achieve the tone that you want.
Step 7: Adjust the Clip Art’s Transparency
To get a softer look, you can adjust the clip art’s transparency.
Step 8: Delete Clear Area Mark
Finally, when the design is complete, don’t forget to delete the rectangle that you use to mark the clear area. You don’t want it as a part of your design, do you?
Your gift tag design is ready to be printed. Enjoy your winter solstice in style!
