How IKEA planning and consultation service works
- Get inspired by spending time on IKEA.ca and playing with all our free online planning tools. Take notes on which styles, colors, products, and ideas you like so it’s easier for us to understand what designs and looks you prefer.
- Choose a need. Do you want help with a particular furniture system? Browse the furnishing areas below to find the planning service you need.
- Book an appointment by choosing a planning option below. You can choose an online or in-store appointment.
- Measure and list. We’ll need details about the space or room. Record measurements of height, width, and depth as well as positions/dimensions of electrical outlets, doors, windows, etc. Make a list of your needs.
- Bring your measurements, list of needs, and style notes to the appointment. A drawing or photo of the space is useful, too. We’ll discuss layouts and solutions to create a plan and a shopping list.
- Take time to assess the plan and next steps. Do you need to make changes? Start over? Buy now? When you’re ready, visit us online or in-store to order.

$199 up to 3 hours of in-home planning that includes measuring service

Bathroom planning

Free, up to 30 minutes of online or in-store appointment with an experienced IKEA sleep specialist that includes:

Free, up to 1 hour of online appointment with an experienced IKEA specialist that can help you with:

You can book an online appointment with one of our kitchen experts on IKEA.ca. To book an online appointment you will need internet access, a desktop, tablet or mobile device.
In-home planning service is available. You can book an in-home planning service appointment online or in-store.
Measure and list. We’ll need details about the space or room. Record measurements of height, width and depth as well as positions/dimensions of electrical outlets, doors, windows, etc. Make a list of your needs. Bring your measurements, list of needs and style notes to the appointment. A drawing or photo of the space is useful, too.
For a free planning service, you can cancel a planning appointment in the confirmation email. For paid planning services you will need to notify our Customer Service Centre.
Design consultation. $39/2 hours of online or in-store* consultation that includes: Personal support throughout the shopping experience in the IKEA store or on IKEA.ca. Personalized advice on how to refresh your home, suggestions of products, solutions, and services.
Design service. $129/approximately 8 hours of design and preparation that includes: One room drawing/floor plan. A lighting plan, a mood board, color selections, a shopping list, services, as well as tips and ideas.
